1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) are the terms on which IMAGINATION SCHOOL LLP (“we”, “us”, “our”) offers the Course described in clause 4 to any person who accepts them in the way set out in clause 6.4 (“you”, “your”).
These Terms are our offer to sell you the Course. You accept it by completing payment (clause 6.4). When you do, a contract is made between you and us on these Terms (see clause 20.2).
Please read these Terms before you buy. They tell you who we are, what you are buying, how you can cancel and what to do if there is a problem.
The current version of these Terms is published at imagination.education/terms. You can save or print it. We also email you a copy of the version that applies to your order (clause 6.6).
If you bought from us before 22 October 2026, your purchase is governed by the terms that applied when you bought, available at imagination.education/oferta.php.
2. Who can buy the Course
You must be 18 or over to buy the Course.
The Course is suitable for adults and for children aged 7 and over. If you buy the Course for a child, you are the customer under these Terms and you are responsible for the child’s use of the Course and for supervising any contact between the child and the Curator. If the learner is under 18, the Course Support is provided through the account and contact details of the parent or guardian who bought the Course, and the Curator communicates with the learner only through that account and those contact details.
The Course is for one learner. One purchase gives Access and Course Support to one learner only.
The Course is sold to consumers only, that is, individuals buying for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
3. Definitions
In these Terms:
- Course means our online video course “Calligraphy for Beginners” taught by Heather McKelvey, as described in clause 4.
- Course Materials means the recorded video lessons, grids, worksheets and other teaching materials that form part of the Course.
- Digital Content means the Course Materials and your Access to them, as described in clause 4.1(a).
- Access means your ability to view the Course Materials in your personal account on our online learning platform. We email you the link to the platform and your login details (clause 7.4).
- Course Support means the service described in clauses 4.1(b) and 7.7: personal consultations with the Curator and review of your assignments during the Support Period.
- Curator means your personal tutor: a member of our teaching team, led by Heather McKelvey, who answers your questions and reviews your assignments.
- Start Date means the date on which your Access is activated and your Support Period begins. It is the date you choose in the application form, unless it changes under clause 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3.
- Support Period means the period during which the Curator gives you personal consultations and reviews your assignments. It lasts 2 months from your Start Date.
4. What the Course includes
The Course consists of two parts:
Digital Content: Access to 35 recorded video lessons organised in 8 topic blocks, and to grids and worksheets for practice, without a time limit as described in clause 7.5; and
Course Support (a service): during the Support Period, personal consultations with the Curator and review of every assignment you submit; and a certificate of completion on the terms in clauses 7.10 and 7.11.
The programme of the Course is:
- Supplies and basic strokes
- Basic strokes and letter elements
- Lowercase letters
- Lowercase letters in text
- Uppercase letters
- Numbers and punctuation
- Modern calligraphy variations
- Final calligraphy projects
The Course is designed to be completed in about 2 months. You can watch the lessons at your own pace, but personal consultations, assignment reviews and the certificate of completion are available only during the Support Period (clauses 7.9 and 7.10).
To practise you will need your own pen holder, nib, ink and paper. These are not included in the price.
The description of the Course on our website at the time of your order forms part of our contract with you (clause 20.2).
The Course Materials and the Course Support are in English.
The certificate of completion confirms that you have completed the Course. It is not an accredited or formal qualification.
The Course Materials are for your personal, non-commercial use (see clause 11).
5. Price and payment
The price of the Course is US$ 99, as shown on our website and on the payment page.
This is a one-off payment. The full price is paid in a single payment when you place your order. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal, and we will never charge your card again for this Course.
There are no other charges from us. Your bank or card provider may charge a currency conversion fee if your card is not in US dollars. That fee is set by your bank, not by us.
Payment is made by card or by the other payment methods shown on the Stripe payment page, and is processed by our payment provider, Stripe.
Your payment is complete when the payment page confirms that it has been successful.
If we change the price on our website after you have paid (for example, for a promotion), the price of your order stays the same.
6. How the contract is made
Step 1 – Application. On our website you choose your Start Date, enter your email address and phone number, tick a box to confirm that you are 18 or over, agree to these Terms and have read our Privacy Policy and submit the form. This is not yet a contract and you have not paid anything.
Step 2 – Going to payment. After you submit the form, we take you to a secure payment page operated by Stripe, or send you a link to it by email and/or WhatsApp.
Step 3 – Payment page. Directly before you pay, the payment page shows the main features of the Course, the total price (US$ 99, a one-off payment with no subscription), how long the contract lasts (lifetime access to the Course Materials as described in clause 7.5 and Course Support for 2 months from your Start Date), the payment methods we accept and a link to these Terms, and asks you to confirm that you want your Course to start on your Start Date and that you lose the right to cancel once it has started (clause 8.3). Your Start Date is the date you chose in the application form; we confirm it in your order confirmation (clause 6.6).
Step 4 – Payment. You place your order by clicking the button to pay US$ 99. The contract between you and us is made when your payment is successfully completed.
Correcting mistakes. You can correct your details in the application form before you submit it. Before you pay, check the price shown on the payment page. If your Start Date or contact details are wrong, email us at help@imagination.education and we will correct them. To change your Start Date after paying, see clause 7.2.
Order confirmation. Without undue delay after your payment, and in any event before your Access is activated, we will email you a confirmation that includes:
a summary of your order, your Start Date, the price you paid and your request under clause 8.3 to start your Course on your Start Date; and
a copy of these Terms in PDF.
Please make sure you have read these Terms, the Course programme and the price before you pay. If anything is unclear, contact us at help@imagination.education before ordering.
These Terms and the contract are available in English only. We keep a copy of the version of these Terms that applied to your order and will send it to you again on request.
You agree to give us accurate details when you apply and pay, and to tell us if your email address or phone number changes.
7. Start Date, Access and Course Support
Your Start Date
You choose your Start Date in the application form. It cannot be earlier than the day you pay. If your chosen Start Date has passed by the time you pay, your Start Date will be the day after you pay, unless you ask us for a later date.
You may change your Start Date once after paying, by emailing us before your original Start Date.
If, for reasons on our side, we cannot open your Access or start your Course Support on your Start Date, we will tell you as soon as possible. You may then choose a new Start Date or end the contract and receive a full refund.
Access to the Course Materials
On your Start Date we will send the link to our online learning platform and your login details to the email address you gave us. Your Access is activated on your Start Date. Sending working login details to that address counts as giving you Access.
Lifetime access. Once activated, your Access to the Course Materials is not limited in time. Apart from cancellation under clause 8, we may suspend or end your Access only as set out in clauses 12.5, 14.4 and 18.3.
Access is provided online on our online learning platform. To use the Course you need a phone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and an up-to-date web browser. You are responsible for your own internet connection, device and software.
Course Support
During the Support Period:
you can ask the Curator questions about the Course and receive personal consultations;
you can send photos or scans of your assignments and the Curator will review every assignment you submit and give you feedback; and
the Course Support is provided in English by private message on WhatsApp and by email, by our teaching team, led by Heather McKelvey. We aim to reply within 2 working days.
We will provide the Course Support with reasonable care and skill.
When the Support Period ends, your Access to the Course Materials continues, but the Curator no longer reviews assignments or gives consultations.
Certificate of completion
We will issue a certificate of completion if you complete all the assignments in the Course programme and submit them for review during the Support Period.
We send the certificate to your email address as a PDF file so that you can print it.
8. Your right to cancel
Before your Start Date. You can cancel your order at any time before your Start Date without giving any reason, and we will refund the full US$ 99.
How to cancel. To cancel, tell us of your decision by a clear statement, for example an email to help@imagination.education, a WhatsApp message to +44 7520 680313 or a letter to IMAGINATION SCHOOL LLP, Stoney Works, 8 Stoney Lane, London, SE19 3BD, United Kingdom. It is enough to send your message before your Start Date.
Once your Course has started. Before you pay, you ask us to start your Course on your Start Date and confirm that you understand you lose your right to cancel once it has started. From your Start Date the Course Materials are made available to you as digital content, so you can no longer cancel or get a refund just because you have changed your mind. You can stop using the Course at any time.
Refunds. We will make any refund without undue delay, using the same payment method you used (your card, through Stripe), unless you expressly agree otherwise. We will not charge you any fee for the refund. Your card provider may convert the refund into your local currency at its own rate.
After you cancel. When you cancel, the contract ends.
9. If there is a problem: your legal rights
We must provide the Course as described in these Terms and on our website. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights.
Digital Content. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Course Materials must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for any particular purpose you told us about before buying. If they are not, you can ask us to repair or replace them. If that is impossible or not done within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you can ask for a price reduction, which may be up to a fair part of the price that reflects the Digital Content. If faulty Digital Content we supplied damages your device or other digital content and this happened because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.
Course Support. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Course Support must be provided with reasonable care and skill and as we described it before you bought. If it is not, you can ask us to repeat or fix it. If that is impossible or not done within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you can ask for a price reduction, which may be up to a fair part of the price that reflects the Course Support.
For free advice about your legal rights: in England and Wales, contact Citizens Advice (www.citizensadvice.org.uk); in Scotland, Advice Direct Scotland; in Northern Ireland, Consumerline. If you live outside the UK, contact your local consumer advice organisation.
10. Your learning results
How well you progress depends partly on how much you practise. We cannot guarantee a particular result that is not described in the Course programme. This does not reduce our obligation to provide the Course as described and with reasonable care and skill.
11. Your obligations and use of the Course Materials
You agree to follow these Terms.
Your Access is personal. You must not share your login details with anyone or let anyone else use your Access, except a child you bought the Course for under clause 2.2.
You may print the grids and worksheets for your own practice. Otherwise you must not copy, record, download (except where the platform allows it), distribute, publish or share the Course Materials, and you must not use the Course Materials themselves to make money, for example by selling them or by showing our videos, grids or worksheets to your own students. You are free to use the skills you learn.
Your own calligraphy work belongs to you. We will only show your work on our website or social media if you give us your separate permission.
12. Our obligations and rights
We will provide Access to the Course Materials, keep them available on our platform and fix faults that are our responsibility.
Changes to the Course. We may make reasonable changes to the Course Materials or programme to improve them or to reflect changes in law or technical requirements. Such changes will not reduce the number of lessons, the topics or the Course Support described in clause 4, and will not otherwise make the Course worse for you.
People who help us. We may use other businesses to help us provide the Course, such as our learning platform, hosting provider and Stripe. We remain responsible to you for the Course.
Service messages. We may send you organisational and technical messages about your Course to the contact details you gave us. Marketing messages are covered by clause 16.2.
Serious breach. If you seriously breach clause 11.2 or 11.3, for example by sharing your login or distributing the Course Materials, we may suspend or end your Access and your Course Support. Where reasonably possible, we will first tell you about the breach and give you a chance to stop it. If we end your Access for a serious breach, we will not refund the part of the price that reflects the Digital Content, but we will refund a fair part of the price for any Course Support we have not yet provided. Any claim we have against you under clause 12.6 is separate and does not reduce this refund.
13. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the Course and the Course Materials belong to us or our licensors and are protected by the law of the United Kingdom and by international law.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Course Materials as set out in clause 11. No intellectual property rights are transferred to you.
14. Our responsibility for loss or damage
What we do not exclude. We do not exclude or limit our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees or agents; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; for breach of the terms implied by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 about the Course Materials (sections 34 to 37 and 41) and the Course Support (sections 49 to 52), including the remedies described in clause 9 and any damages you are entitled to; and for damage to your device or digital content under section 46 of that Act.
Foreseeable loss. If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time the contract was made, both we and you knew it might happen.
Private use. The Course is for your domestic and private use. We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as failures of public telecommunications or power networks, malicious software or attacks by third parties that we could not reasonably prevent. If such an event happens, we will tell you as soon as possible and take reasonable steps to limit its effect. If the event delays your Course Support by more than 30 days, you may end the Course Support part of the contract and we will refund a fair part of the price for the support not provided; your Access continues. If the event prevents your Access to the Course Materials for more than 30 days in a row, you may end the contract and we will refund a fair part of the price for the support not provided and a fair part of the price reflecting the Access you could not use. The businesses we use under clause 12.3 are not “outside our control” for this purpose.
15. How long the contract lasts
16. Your personal data
IMAGINATION SCHOOL LLP is the controller of your personal data. We process it to perform our contract with you and to provide the Course. Details are in our Privacy Policy at imagination.education/privacy.
We send you only service messages about your Course (clause 12.4). We do not send you marketing messages. If we ever want to send you marketing messages, we will ask for your separate consent first, and you will be able to withdraw it at any time. Agreeing to marketing is never a condition of buying the Course.
17. Complaints
If you have a complaint, please email us at help@imagination.education or send a WhatsApp message to +44 7520 680313 and describe the problem. You can also write to us at our registered office.
We will review your complaint and reply within 14 working days. Our reply will tell you the outcome and whether any alternative dispute resolution scheme or other arrangement is available to you if you are not satisfied.
We are not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
Using our complaints procedure does not stop you from going to court.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law, in our payment methods or in our learning platform. The updated version applies to orders placed on or after the date it is published.
The version that applied when you placed your order continues to apply to your purchase. Changes will not affect the price you paid, the content of the Course you bought or your Start Date.
If a change in law or a security or technical requirement means that we have to change how we provide your Course, we will tell you in advance by email. If the change significantly affects you, you may end the contract, or only the Course Support part of it. If you end only the Course Support, your Access continues and we refund a fair part of the price for the support not yet provided. If you end the contract, we also refund a fair part of the price that reflects the Digital Content if the change prevents or significantly limits your use of the Course Materials.
19. Law and courts
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
UK consumers. You can bring legal proceedings in respect of these Terms in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Northern Irish or the English courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of Scotland or Northern Ireland. If we bring proceedings against you, we will do so only in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
Consumers outside the UK. If you live outside the UK, nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live. You may also be able to bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
Before going to court, we encourage you to contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter (clause 17).
20. General
No signature needed. The contract is made electronically and does not need to be signed.
What the contract includes. Our contract with you is made up of these Terms, the description of the Course on our website at the time of your order, your order confirmation and anything we or anyone acting for us (including in chat or messenger conversations) told you in writing about us or the Course before you ordered that you took into account when deciding to buy.
If part of these Terms is invalid. If a court decides that any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the Terms will continue to apply.
Delay in enforcing. If we do not insist straight away that you do something you are required to do under these Terms, or if we delay in taking steps against you, that does not mean you do not have to do it and does not stop us taking steps later.
Third parties. This contract is between you and us. No other person has any rights to enforce any of its terms.
